Not yesterday, not tomorrow; TODAY!

Image
There are certain things that you’ve probably been doing all your life that keep you unhappy and not enjoying your now-life. These are self-distracting habits that we have  subconsciously  come to accept as inevitable truths of our life cycle. You will very likely disagree with me (I know this, because half of my friends kinda disagree with me), but I want to coach you to learn to live in the moment and I hope (unlike my dear friends) that somebody catches my drift ( and that somebody is YOU, just in case you're wondering...) Every moment and every season of your life is as important as the next; your future is not more important than your present, just as your present isn’t more important than your past. No season should take up so much time of the other season, every season should be lived in its time; the present. Leave the past in the past, live tomorrow when tomorrow comes, but now; now is now, so live now. The Past First of all; living in yesterday ...

Meet the Blogger

Image
And so I realized that since I set up this blog, I haven’t introduced myself. Like, who does that, right? You kinda deserve to know the person behind the writing, so that it helps you relate to me (or maybe not), but it should definitely help you understand where I’m coming from when you read this stuff. I’m a 23 year-old Kwambi-Ndonga from Oshakati, living in Windhoek. My embedded labels include: Black, Namibian, Female, Christian: born-again (but people would rather ignore this part), Wambo and Employed. People may describe me as the girl with the dreads, the girl that laughs a lot, or the girl that likes people, the choir girl, the law girl, the girl with the hoarse voice, the Church-girl or more recently, the lifecoach girl :) I have humbly accepted my labels; I ain't scared of them. I’m no more than meets the eye; I am what they call “ an open book ”. I’m a very good person (if I may say so myself), but I’m quite an ass on many occasions as well. For example; I...

People don't like you??

Image
A number of people have confessed to me that sometimes they feel like they are not liked very much and they hate it; they ask me for advice, “People seem to like you a lot, how do you do it? How do people just like you?” And in my head, I’m like “Oh well, that’s probably just because I’m pretty awesome and stuff *hides*”. That’s a joke. Maybe J    Sometimes I do get this feeling that someone doesn’t like me and there are times when I feel unwanted and it sucks terribly.  What’s funny, for me, is that the internet is graced with quotes that say things like this. I'm gonna be that lifecoach that tells you that there's something wrong with that kinda picture. As human beings, we generally want to be affirmed & appreciated by others, coz we are created to connect with other people; it can honestly be quite harsh on the soul if people don’t like you. Then you have to act like you don't care, coz the world is telling you that you're a major loser if you care w...

When all you wanna say is "I wanna barbecue you, can I barbecue you?"

I’ve always thought that I was a very likable person. I would literally be jaw-drop shocked when I discovered that somebody didn’t like me. Like, how?? Why not?? Have you actually met me? I’m pretty cool! *hides* Yeah, that was back in my younger days, when I was stupid, naïve and self-centered. I have quickly grown to learn that people sometimes just don’t like some people. It has since liberated me to live with the fact that some people are not going to like me, but that doesn’t mean that I’m a wrong or a bad person. I'm just not their kinda cool, you know what I mean? :) I’m basically trying to tell you that some people will not like you, and that’s OK. It is also OK, I figure, to not like some people. Hold your horses, before you Christianese-bash me. I’m not advocating for hatred or whatever. I’m just being real. Hear me. There are some people that you absolutely really like, with no rhyme or reason. Then there are those who you have no idea how you feel about t...

Some People Are Just Unlovable

Image
There’s nothing that gives me more joy than immersing myself in the appreciation of another being.  I love people. I honestly do.    I deliberately choose to fall in love with people. I’ve learned that we, as human beings, are all pretty unlovable, but entirely loveable at the same time. How cool is that, right? The number one need for the soul is to love and be loved. But some people aren’t very easy to love, because either they’re really rude, inconsiderate, selfish, arrogant, sadly boring, pathetic, or down right annoying. (*sigh* Don't we all have those?) But I figured; if I get this one thing right; loving the unlovable people, I will experience true depths of love and my life will be pretty awesome.  Learn from the Lifecoach, will you :) 1. Understand that PEOPLE ARE BROKEN There is not one person that I have met that isn’t cracked or broken. We are all pretty broken. We are out here acting all well and fine, wearing a perfectly plastered face ...
